United Nations agencies launch cholera immunization campaign for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh

More than 500,000 Rohingya Muslims have crossed over to Bangladesh since late August, when Myanmar security forces responded to militant attacks with a broad crackdown that witnesses and rights groups say has included killing and arson. "I can't find my relatives ..."

In 2014 Dhaka banned marriages between Bangladeshis and Myanmar's Rohingya Muslim refugees following claims that members of the persecuted community were attempting to Wednesday to gain citizenship in the mainly Muslim nation.

Almost half a million Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh due to violence in the Rakhine state that has claimed lives of at least more than 100 people and displaced several others. "Myanmar may try to limit the number of refugees for repatriation by its own verification process and delay implementing recommendations by the Kofi Annan panel", he said at a discussion in Dhaka on the crisis.

"Nobody wants another emergency within this existing emergency that we are facing with the Rohingya refugees here".

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees says at least 515,000 Rohingya have entered Bangladesh since Aug 25.

The government denied accusation of ethnic cleansing, and had rebuffed the insurgents' ceasefire, saying it would not negotiate with terrorists. "Many show signs of malnutrition", the IOM statement said.

The government of Buddhist-majority Myanmar refuses to recognise the Rohingya as a distinct ethnic group and considers them illegal migrants from Bangladesh. But even as refugees arrive, Bangladesh insists they will all have to go home.

The trawler capsized near the river's Gholar Char point Sunday night.

"Even the worldwide pressure has so far failed to refrain Myanmar military from implementing its long-term depopulation plan for Rohingyas", added Mahmood.

A senior police officer said they have stepped up surveillance in the camps to stop any such marriages and to combat trafficking of refugee girls or children, many of whom fled to Bangladesh unaccompanied by parents.

The United States and Britain have warned Myanmar the crisis is putting at risk the progress it has made since the military began to loosen its grip on power in 2011.
