Sadio Mané Faces Six-Week Layoff Following Hamstring Injury

And the 2017 Ballon d'Or nominee could miss another 10 fixtures after picking up the hamstring injury in Senegal's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over the Cape Verde Islands on Saturday.

Liverpool FC forward Sadio Mane will be unavailable for the visit of Huddersfield Town on October 28.

Their two Premier League matches in that period brought a creditable 1-1 draw away to Manchester United but also a 3-2 home defeat to Swansea which dropped them to fourth in the Premier League - the position in which they would ultimately finish.

The 25-year-old - who has three goals in five Premier League games - has only been involved in one domestic match since returning from that suspension, and now looks set for an even longer absence.

Strikers Daniel Sturridge and Dominic Solanke will also vie for a starting berth in Mane's absence, while Klopp may instead choose to deploy Philippe Coutinho higher up the pitch alongside Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah in attack against United at Anfield.

Sane's value to Liverpool has been enormous since his move from Southampton in 2016, but he has struggled to stay fit.

Liverpool won just once in seven matches in all competitions while Mane was at the African Nations Cup in January.

After recovering from a knee injury picked up in the Merseyside derby in April, Mane has picked up where he left off this term.
