Liverpool Star Coutinho Claimed to Have Made Secret Deal

The La Liga giants already broke the bank during the summer transfer window to make four additions to Ernesto Valverde's ranks in the form of club record signing Ousmane Dembele, Paulinho, Nelson Semedo and Gerard Deulofeu.

Coutinho wanted to move to the Camp Nou in the summer and Barcelona lodged multiple bids with Liverpool in an attempt to do the deal.

"We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market, or any player the technical staff request", he told reporters.

Coutinho was targeted as a replacement for Neymar, who dismantled his partnership with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to join Paris Saint-Germain for a world-record figure close to £200m.

Philippe Coutinho has a "pact" with Liverpool which would allow him to leave the club for Barcelona in January, according to reports in Spain.

Barcelona are now in bullish mood ahead of the January transfer window as the board seeks to finally land Coutinho after seeing three bids rejected in the summer, including a reported £114 million.

But he admits there must be departures to balance out any arrivals in the new year.

"The club is in a position to give them the best team possible, which is what we want", he added.

Catalan media outlet El Mundo Deportivo claims that Liverpool might be ready to cash in on Philippe Coutinho in January. The financial year runs until July so sales can also be made at the end of the season. We will look at [signing players], even if there aren't any sales.
