Down Detectors has recorded a huge spike in reports of Facebook outages today.

Facebook users around the world including some in Sri Lanka, have experienced an outage of the social network. As per the data, fifty percent of the people reported having issues while logging in, while 40 percent reported that they suffered a total blackout issue.

Bad news, friends: Facebook appears to be down for a large number of users.

The independent website DownDetector.com reports that Facebook issues originally popped up a little after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

According to Down Detector, almost 12,000 people have said they are having issues with the social media sites.

Downtime reports said people were unable to access either one or both of the services on their browser or via the app. People have been using that other main social media platform, Twitter, to vent their frustration, with the hashtag #FacebookDown trending globally.
