Arsene Wenger delivers injury update on Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny

Jack Wilshere is getting closer to challenging for a starting spot but I think Wenger will bide his time with the England global so he'll remain on the bench along with Mohamed Elneny.

The boost means Wenger could well be presented with a selection headache for the attacking side of his team for Saturday's late kick-off.

"We've lost Mustafi for about four to six weeks", said Gunners manager Wenger.

Arsenal almost sold Mustafi to Inter Milan this summer but they did not and he has become an important part of the team in Wenger's back three, starting five of their seven Premier League games so far.

"I didn't expect him to play and Germany had already qualified".

The Gunners have numerous defensive concerns ahead of Saturday's Premier League encounter, with Mustafi having picked up a long-term injury while playing for Germany while Koscielny has been out with an Achilles problem. Another dilemma faced by Wenger, as the last thing he would want is to set his star defender back even further.

'If he has no pain on his Achilles tendon he will play'.

"I haven't seen everybody because some players are coming back today, some even tomorrow like Alexis Sanchez", Wenger said on Thursday, when questioned about injuries picked up during the global break.

"Koscielny has a definite final test tomorrow", the Arsenal boss added. At the moment he is not available. If Kolasinac is out then and Monreal has to play left-back then Calum Chambers is likely to step into the back three. "He trained on his own and the signs were positive so we will test him on Friday". "Mentally, I will have to assess the situation when he comes back tomorrow".
