Samsung lets Galaxy S8 and Note 8 owners disable Bixby button

Samsung lets Galaxy S8 and Note 8 owners disable Bixby button

When enabled, the button launches into the Bixby Home hub and when held down, it fires up Bixby voice.

Unfortunately for consumers, Bixby wasn't ready. Going forward. users will be able to disable the Bixby button within the phone's settings. Unfortunately, Samsung really wanted that button to remain tied to Bixby, so it began blocking those applications.

Samsung is finally giving in to the consumer demands and has allowed the users to disable dedicated Bixby button in the latest Bixby update. Unfortunately, it doesn't go any further than that so you're left with an even more useless button. The company also rolled out its own voice assistant Bixby and it is the only one thing that has let down the users.

Samsung finally lets you disable Bixby button

Due to users' frustration with the button, third-party developers have created apps that allowed users to remap the button to launch different apps instead, but Samsung blocked these.

The latest update for the Bixby, brings a new toggle which give you the access to manipulate the Bixby Key function. After this, users can head to Bixby Home and find the toggle to disable the option from the menu. However, the two most powerful smartphones to come out this year are certainly Samsung's Galaxy Note 8 and LG's V30. While pressing the key won't do anything, holding it down will still turn on Bixby Voice. If you don't see the option, then you will need to open the Galaxy App store and push the update.

Bixby is all the more galling considering that my phone already has Google Assistant, which, along with Alexa, is about the best AI helper out there.
