Frank de Boer could face axe

A Chris Wood goal condemned Frank de Boer's side to yet another Premier League defeat, with toothless Palace failing to score yet in the current Premier League campaign, though they did manage two goals in a League Cup win over Ipswich.

The Eagles' four-game record is the worst in Premier League history and Palace are understood to already be looking at potential replacements for De Boer.

The Premier League side have reportedly thought long and hard about sacking the Dutchman during the worldwide break, despite De Boer only taking charge this summer.

As quoted in the Independent, De Boer said "I spoke to him before I came to Crystal Palace".

"What other people think, they have to decide but when I'm still the manager of Palace, I will give 100 percent".

Palace finished 14th in the Premier League last season, but defeats to Huddersfield Town, Liverpool, Swansea City and Burnley have left supporters angry that further signings were not made. Normally we are scheduled for one day a week to come together and see what is happening at the club - what is going on and how we can improve. As well as Lee's horrendous mistake, profligacy in front of goal cost them here.

Palace were missing Wilfried Zaha, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mamadou Sakho for this trip to the northwest; had the trio been available, things may have been panned out differently for De Boer's side.

There has been widespread speculation about the future of former Ajax Amsterdam coach De Boer, who arrived at Crystal Palace amid talk of transforming the team's style but who has yet to gather a point.

Look at Sir Alex Ferguson, the FA Cup final against Crystal Palace.

Pope had relatively little to do until he was forced into making a brilliant save from Christian Benteke in the 79th minute.

"There was only one team deserving to win today and it was us". "If you get some big signings for Crystal Palace then we can get that system and now we have to really reconsider that. We are in good shape, mentally and physically and we have a very hungry group this year, who want to go and show that they are Premier League players". I always stick with what I believe and won't think about the consequences can be. "We all want to rush through this game and every player, every media outlet, they all want players to be exceptional within three games of playing professional football".

De Boer's men kept the Clarets pinned back but couldn't find a way through to seriously test Pope as his team-mates defended with great discipline to protect their lead.
