Chicago Teen Found Dead in Rosemont Hotel Freezer

Here is everything we know so far about the tragic death of Kenneka Jenkins. Jenkins was pronounced dead on the scene at 12:48 a.m. Sunday, according to the medical examiner's office.

Jenkins was found dead in a freezer at around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning at the Crowne Plaza Chicago O'Hare Hotel.

Her body had been found in a walk-in freezer, and Jenkins' mother, Tereasa Martin, said that police told her that her daughter had gone into the freezer while drunk and died inside.

"Yes, they've looked at it and continue to look at it and all the other social media videos and posts", Mack told the Tribune on Monday. "This is not an area where anyone would typically be who was a guest in the hotel". It's unclear if Jenkins tried to get out of the freezer, but there is an exit button meant to open the door if it gets shut behind someone accidentally. According to other relatives, Jenkins' sister last spoke with her around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday around the time she went missing. Jenkins friends called Tereasa Martin around 4 a.m. September 9, to report they had not been able locate Jenkins. They apparently took Jenkins' phone with them, and the auto Martin had leant her daughter for the party.

However, Martin does not believe the police's account. She had been attending a party there Friday night with friends and went missing early Saturday morning. Martin said she immediately went to the hotel and asked them to check surveillance footage to see if they could locate her daughter.

"In law enforcement this kind of social media has become king, so everybody with a camera is a reporter now, and they're just taking it in stride as best they can", Mack said.

Martin has quesioned the validity of the police's conclusion on her daughter's death. Mack said he's unsure if the freezer had been turned on. They refused my family to see her.

Martin told Chicago news network WGN that police told her that Jenkins was "so drunk she couldn't hold herself up".

The viral video, which has received on 4 million views, was recorded live by a woman wearing mirrored sunglasses. Viewers of the Facebook Live believe that, at about the 3-minute mark, a scream can be heard.

Detectives are looking at the video and other social media posts as they try to piece together the death of 19-year-old Kenneka Jenkins, police said.

"They are leaving no stone unturned as far as trying to corral everyone they can and talk to them and interview them about what happened and what was going on that night", said Mack.

The medical examiner's office says Kenneka Jenkins was found dead early Sunday morning, September 10. "And the young lady with the glasses, she needs to come forward too, cause everyone in there is a suspect-it's just as a simple as that".
