Paul Manafort Parts Ways With WilmerHale

The FBI's early morning raid on the home of Paul Manafort was also a surprising wake up call for President Donald Trump.

President Trump's embattled former campaign chairman has hired a new legal team as the pressure from Robert Mueller's Russian Federation investigation increases.

Manafort's ties to Russia came under scrutiny last August, when The New York Times discovered that a pro-Russian political party in Ukraine designated him $US12.7 million in undisclosed cash payments. The probe could give Mueller leverage on Manafort and make him a more cooperative witness in the overall investigation into the Trump campaign. Investigators were seeking his cooperation in the probe against Manafort, two sources told CNN.

Trump, speaking to reporters at his golf course in Bedminster, N.J., said he had not spoken to Manafort "for a long time" but that he has "always found Paul Manafort to be a very decent man".

"I thought it was a very, very strong signal, or whatever".

"It is what it is", Trump said of his relationship with Sessions.

Republican strategist Roger Stone, a former business partner and longtime friend of Manafort's, said Manafort is "never" going to testify against President Donald Trump.

In conjunction with the special investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, FBI agents raided Manafort's Alexandria home late last month. With money from Manafort, Yohai formed real-estate partnerships with investor money from NY and Los Angeles. At the unveiling of Trump's new golf club in Charlotte in 2014, Dodson asked Eric where his company's financing was coming from since so many US banks and investors were avoiding golf course projects after the Great Recession.

"If you want to get to the roots of collusion, to the roots of Trump's relationship with Russian Federation, they don't start with Putin, and certainly don't start with the 2016 campaign", Gunitsky said.

Also, Jeffrey Yohai, the estranged husband of Manafort's daughter, is being investigated by FBI agents, according to the article.

FBI agents showed up at the residence without prior notice before dawn on July 26 searching for assorted documents that might have a bearing on the Russian Federation investigation, the daily said, adding that they did take away certain written materials they found there. Manafort has already given about 300 documents to Congress.

Manafort has turned over documents to the intelligence and judiciary committees in the Senate.
