No Man's Sky Atlas Rises Update available now

With the way joint exploration has been implemented, Atlas Rises is unlikely to attract new players to No Man's Sky, even those who are thirsty for more multiplayer. A flurry of refund demands and a lawsuit against the developer will attest to this. That Hello Games continue to support No Man's Sky in this fashion can only be seen as a positive, given how fascinating the game was at the concept stage. This promises to be the biggest update the game has received yet. The full list of improvements can be seen below as well as the latest trailer for the update.

But what about the multiplayer? If you've been looking for a reason to jump back into the controversial universe simulator, there are about a dozen in the new Altas Rises update.

We know multiplayer was a planned feature for No Man's Sky, with it being downplayed so close to launch that limited edition copies of the game had a multiplayer logo covered up by a sticker.

Players can travel together and interact with up to 16 other players.

Space combat mechanics have been improved to make fighting in space more compelling. This includes a communicator, which can be used to advance mission steps, or even to hail pirates before they attack. With today's update, Atlas Rising, it feels like the game has finally struck that balance.

It's been a rough year for No Man's Sky.
