New Apple Leaks Indicate the iPhone 8 Will Be Colorful and Massive

We've previously heard plenty of rumours about the iPhone 8 ditching the physical Home key due to its vast expanse of edge-to-edge OLED display real-estate, and we've also heard about the so-called "Function Area" which is said to be a specific portion of the display dedicated to taking on the Home key role, as well as, as the title would suggest, a series of functions.

We've had a long look at the iPhone 8's final design now, thanks to all the recent leaks from Apple-published HomePod firmware. As part of the celebration, Apple is tipped to be plotting a major redesign of the iPhone, ushering in a new age of bezel-free Apple smartphones.

Silver iPhone 8: Another iPhone 8 dummy unit included in today's leaks is silver in color, MacRumors notes.

The latest info comes from firmware-digging dev Steve Troughton-Smith, who has managed to uncover sizing details for the notch - the small bit of bezel that will stick out from the top of the screen, housing sensors and a front-facing camera. According to the report, the new iPhone SE 2 will be making its way out in Q1 2018, two years after the original iPhone SE.

Days later, he uncovered one of the first additional uses for the facial recognition technology - Apple Pay. While the iPhone 7 is an evolution of an already good design, the iPhone 8 is the better-looking phone to my eyes. The image revealed the glass back and inductive charging.

Last week, he first suggested the new device will likely feature facial expression detection after uncovering a potential "attention detection" feature in the code. It also has the glass back that rumors say will come on the device. However, this information was confirmed only now.

That 5.8-inch screen size is 0.3-inches larger than the screen current used on the iPhone 7 Plus.

This design looks identical to the dummy units we've been seeing leak out all over the web, so we're fairly confident this is all legitimate.
