Soon, iPhones will block texts while driving

Techies from all around the world flocked to Apple's Californian HQ for the Worldwide Developers' Conference (WWDC) - an annual event where the tech firm shows off its latest gadgets and software.

This new feature extends the use of the existing "do not disturb" option that can be accessed by the settings screen. If you erase a message on your iPhone or iPad, that will also reflect on your Mac.

A note on privacy: the HomePod doesn't start to receive any audio data until the user says, "Hey Siri", and the data that does get picked up is encrypted. Siri will be able to perform translations in various languages including English, Chinese, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Elsewhere, Apple Pay is set to offer peer-to-peer payments, with the ability to pay friends either via Messages or Siri.

The 64-bit A10X is on par with any desktop grade processor you would use for creative purposes. "I'll see your message when I get where I'm going" - although presumably users will be able to edit this message.

The money can be stored on a virtual card and used with Apple Pay, which Apple expects will be accepted in 50 percent of USA retailers by the end of the year.

Is this an iOS feature you will mourn the loss of, or does it make sense to you?

For instance, users can now loop a live photo, like a kid jumping into a pool, over and over again. Amazon has an app for Tango that lets you shop for TVs while also seeing how they look on your TV stand. There will also be new tools for organising photos and creating sharable videos. It can also be used to control Apple HomeKit devices.

Create a attractive long exposure effect that is usually possible only with DSLR cameras. Apple has an all-new thermal design under the hood that claims to deliver 80 percent additional cooling capacity in the same thin iMac design. You will now get a Today section on launch that will serve as the store's home page. Also there will a separate slot for in-app purchases.

Apple Maps is adding floor plans of malls and airports, making it easier to plan ahead.

And true to Apple's way of introducing new products and features, the AR demo, complete with a battlefield-on-a-table, was spectacular.

Texting or using the phone while driving might not be the smartest thing to do especially with such a high chance of getting into an accident on the road. To bridge the gap, it's built a superpowered version of its all-in-one iMac that will be available in December.

Apple nodded to several up-and-coming technology trends, unveiling a new "smart" home speaker and device features touching on virtual reality, online privacy and a form of artificial intelligence called machine learning.
