Midler ignores exit music during Tony Awards speech


It was expected that "Come From Away" and "Dear Evan Hansen" would be neck and neck in the main categories, but aside from Christopher Ashley winning best director for "Come From Away", "Dear Even Hanson" took home six awards, including best musical and best original score. "Don't waste any time trying to be like anybody but yourself, because the things that make you unusual are the things that make you powerful", Platt said during his acceptance speech.

But the actress was having none of it, shouting to rapturous laughter: "Shut that crap off!"

While accepting for her work in "Hello, Dolly!", she gave one of the night's most memorable speeches.
